    B.S. in Restaurant Management Candidate, Graduating July 2020

    Nina Kates found her love for hospitality and cooking at a very young age, while learning to cook from her mother and doing Sunday breakfasts with her father. After being accepted into Walnut Hill College as a Culinary Arts major, Nina realized that the front of the house was more her style. She still works very closely with the chef instructors at WHC to make herself very versatile in the front and back of the house. She also loves being a help to the College in so many different ways, from picking up extra nights at Bistro Perrier to help the chefs with special events, to trying to teach all of her knowledge to her peers. Nina has gained many awards, such as the WHC Spirit of the Industry Award, and has obtained over 170 grant hours in a 10-week term. In February 2019, Nina earned her A.S. degree in Restaurant Management and is now pursuing her bachelor’s degree with eligibility to graduate in June 2020. After college, Nina plans to open her own restaurant.
